Heritage Skills Keepers by donation
Learn about the self-sufficiency skills our homesteader, pioneer and First Nations ancestors used to live with and in harmony with the bounty of the land. Discussions and presentations can range from local food security, food walks, modern self-sustainability projects, or home crafts…. All ages welcome. Registration is not required, but will allow us to keep you up to date about future special activities or changes to the program.

Adulting 101 by donation
Do you Adult well? Maybe you could learn some ways to do it better! We will talk about, and have presentations about money, wellness, DIY, relationships, lifestyle, work… All ages welcome. July 5-9 Leaders In Training Camp 13 – 18 years 9:30 – 4:30 $60 week
Are you looking to gain experience in leadership and working with children? This camp helps you learn the skills to be prepared to become a Junior Leader. Join this fantastic group and learn to organize, run and assist with summer camp programs, ensuring everyone has a fun, engaging and active summer!
July 11 – 15 Day Camp 6 – 12 years; 10:00 – 4:00 $195 week/ $50 day drop in (if space allows)
July 18 – 22 Day Camp 8 – 12 years 10:00 – 4:00 $195 week/ $50 day drop in (if space allows)

Endless fun for kids 6 to 12 years! Spend your summer with us as we connect with old friends and make new ones, explore our island surroundings, get creative with crafts, play fun games and try out interesting activities!
Weekly – Adventure Earth 13 – 18 years 3-4 hours
This is a weekly activity for youth interested in outdoor leadership, wilderness skills, environmental leadership and food security and farming skills! Each week is something different, we may challenge ourselves to climb a mountain, or go to a local farm to meet the animals and help in the garden, or volunteer to help a local organization, or travel off island to a special site, or learn how to lead games and other activities! Participants will help decide the focus of each week! When you sign-up please note what times could work for your youth.

Year Round Youth Programs
Volunteer and Intern Programs 10 – 19 years
Build workplace skills and experience! Learn the basics skills needed to: work in a Café as a server or assistant manager, maintenance or landscaping skills, advertising basics, organize and run activities and many other jobs; the time commitment for these programs are flexible and accommodating.
Leaders for the Earth 13 – 19 years
Registrations are being taken for this fun and educational activity for youth! We will be hosting regular in-person, at-a-distance, outdoor and environmental leadership activities for youth, including outdoor living skills, environmental awareness, and food and farming skills. We will also offer virtual and remote resources through a monthly newsletter.
Youth Book Club 13 – 19 years
A monthly book club for teens ages 13-19. Our goal is to create a space for book-loving teens to gather, read and discuss new books, and socialize. We have been meeting over Zoom and are completing our second book, and anyone who wishes to join is very welcome!
Across the Ages – Fostering Intergenerational Connections 12 – 19 years
Created in 2020, Across the Ages is a program to foster intergenerational connection on the Southern Gulf Islands, run collaboratively between the SGI Community Resource Centre and the Pender Community Hall. We are recruiting youth (19 and under) and senior members (55+) from across Southern Gulf Island communities to participate in a virtual buddy program.

10:00 – 2:00, January 23 Winter Clean-up Work Bee
Get your dusters, pails and squeegees ready, it’s time to dust off the annual Community Hall Cleaning Work Bee. Come for the whole day or just an hour. We can find jobs for all ages and abilities.
Bring yourself, your friends, buckets, wash rags, pruners, gloves and a desire to make our Hall sparkle. Enjoy a homemade lunch, refreshments and the satisfaction of working together to support our Hall!
